Heartbreaks Are Beautiful
In today's world, it is difficult to find people who are happy with their lives. We complain that our lives are complicated, however, we fail to understand the cause of it. Growing up gifts us experience but silently takes away the innocence from our lives. The innocence that we need to un-complicate.
The inspiration of this article has been drawn from a brief chat that I had with an old friend of mine. During our conversation, he said, "Writing is liberating." He shared a few of his articles that he wrote recently and from that, it was easy comprehending, that he was sad. We do not write for no reason. Writing starts when just talking about something is not enough. Writing starts when you do want your words to stay. It is amazing how writing liberates you to let go off the emotions, feelings, memories that you wish to get rid of and at the same time, gives your thought a concrete shape, in the form of words, for them to stay forever.
On further insistence, he shared that he was going through a phase of heartbreak. His girlfriend left him for some other guy and he was not prepared to handle all the loneliness that followed. He ended his account with, "It was stupid of me to be held by them".
This made me wonder. I wonder how heartbreaks can make people feel that love is stupid. For me, both are beautiful. Love is a beautiful emotion and honestly, so are heartbreaks.
People usually agree to the former part of my last statement. The latter makes them feel uncomfortable. How can heartbreaks be beautiful?
Well, if there are no heartbreaks, we would never realize the true importance of the soul we had. If not sadness, happiness would stop making sense. If there is no autumn, no one will wait for spring. It is not only the importance of love, happiness or completeness that heartbreaks introduce us to, they also gift us something as invaluable as time.
The time to talk to ourselves, to value the ones we still have, to know our mistakes, to correct them. If not any of the above, you get time to make yourself a cup of coffee, sit and read. Heartbreaks are more giving in nature than any of us can estimate. They make us more human. They make us more beautiful. Heartbreaks are beautiful.
