North Campus-The Place we call Home

Just like any regular morning, I was taking a rickshaw to my college from Vishwavidyala metro station, when a thought struck me, which made today's morning not so regular. As my rickshaw moved on, it occurred to me that there is not much time left for me to travel the same roads again regularly.

I looked around.

North Campus of Delhi University is beautiful. I am not talking about the magnificent colleges or clean roads, I am talking about the atmosphere. The environment that you have on this campus is beyond compare. Look around and you have students everywhere. Undergraduate students having animated conversations about the latest political developments, postgraduate students discussing their research projects and professors having the most valuable of conversations about different fields of studies.

This campus has a beautiful colour.

It is only here that you will find a group of highly motivated young students in colourful kurtas working for the cause of spreading awareness regarding pressing issues of the society through what is lovingly addressed as Nukkad Nataks. It is only here that with these students, you will also find boys and girls clicking pictures and cheering, with not the slightest of an idea of what the play was about.

North campus is about excellence.

From ideas, debates, and arguments to the top dance and fashion societies of the nation, we have it all. We speak our hearts out and we listen. This place has varied opinions and mutual respect for all. Every time a specially abled student is helped by any of us, it signifies the love this place has. Every time a protest is staged on this campus, it is a celebration of the spirit of dissent. Every cup of chai speaks volumes of the never-ending friendships this campus has seen. Every argument, in every classroom, stands for freedom and every assembly stands for unity.

North campus is just not a place, it is a feeling.

It is a feeling of love that you have for that girlfriend you found on campus. It is that priceless feeling of homeliness which a child finds out of the home. It is the pool of knowledge which lets you grow. The trees, the roads, the nooks, the book stalls, the markets, the restaurants, law faculty, arts faculty, DSE, the ridge, the food, the people, it's not just another place in Delhi, it is a priceless feeling.
